Assistant Director of Finance -Salaried Exempt
The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for salaried exempt, (not subject to overtime) Assistant Director Finance to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. The role of the Assistant Director of Finance is to assist in the directing the financial activities of the hotel by performing the following duties personally or through department team.
Typical duties of the Assistant Director of Finance include:
- Conduct daily audits of the hotel's revenues.
- Perform daily audits of adjustments and credits issued.
- Administer daily activities of the Accounting office; keep the Director of Finance up-to-date on office activities.
- Administers vacation accruals.
- Analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure financial information is available and accurate.
- Confirms payroll register matches payroll information in personal files.
- Assist the Director of Finance with timely preparation and submission of annual budget, cash flow, statistics, capital additions and month end reports.
- Review overall payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Administer the preparation of timely and accurate month-end financial statements.
- Insure monthly that property is in compliance with internal Audit Programs for Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Control, and Payroll. Report to Director of Finance any areas that are not compliant.
- Prepare ongoing balance sheet reconciliations, and year-end annual audit work papers.
- Assist in directing the preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax returns.
- Review petty cash vouchers ensuring that adherence to company policy has been followed.
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Performs any other duties as requested by management.
The successful applicant will have:
- Bachelor Degree in hospitality, Finance, Accounting or Business; or equivalent experience. (College level accounting courses are required if degree is not in Accounting or Finance).
- 5 + years' experience as a full-service hotel controller or similar.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Micros POS and Opera.
- In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry and legal and contractual agreements.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills including:
- Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Advanced Excel user; hands-on ability to prepare, manipulate and reformulate spreadsheets.
- Project management skills and experience.
- Full understanding of PCI DSS.
- Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
- Be professional and respectful in all interactions with guests and associates.
- Patience, tact and diplomacy.
