The Lakefront, Anchorage hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) is recruiting for full time, Lead Line Cook to join our team. At the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, we strive to deliver a memorable experience for our guests. Situated on the shores of scenic Lake Spenard, one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is the perfect starting point to explore the many wonders Alaska has to offer. The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel boasts 248 rooms and three outstanding food and beverage outlets.
The role of the Lead Line Cook ensuring the cooks are properly trained on the menu items and the presentation is consistent. Creating and updating menu items as requested. Verifying that the cooks are maintaining a clean area and following Anchorage Food Code. Preparing meals so our guest have a memorable experience
Typical duties of the Lead Line Cook include:
- Estimates food consumption, and requisitions or purchases food items within allotted budget.
- Receives and examines food items and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.
- Selects and develops recipes based on type of food to be prepared.
- Supervises personnel engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods.
- Cooks or otherwise prepares food according to recipe.
- Cuts, trims, and de-bones meats and poultry for cooking.
- Portions cooked foods, or gives instructions to workers as to size of portions and methods of garnishing.
- Carves meats.
- May create and plans menus.
- Supervise, resolve problems and train kitchen staff.
- Performs any other duties as requested by a member of management.
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean at all times.
The successful applicant will:
- High School education and three years cooking experience and one-year supervisor experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift at least 20-40 pounds at a time on a regular basis.
- Time Management skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
- Reports to work well groomed, in a clean and proper uniform, and at all times practices good personal hygiene.
- Patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Must have a valid food handlers’ card.
- Work as a productive team member by contributing positive energy.
- Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner.
- Be professional in all interactions with associates.
