JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Banquet Captain, you will assist with setting-up, serving guests and clean-up of our banquet events such as weddings, meetings, and luncheons and assist Banquet Manager and F&B Supervisor in overseeing efficiency of staff.
What you can help us do: Exceed our guests’ expectations by providing exceptional service throughout their event.

Your every day:
Knowledgeable of event menu items and their contents, appropriate table settings and service ware, and the correct preparation and garnishing methods.
  • Assist with food and table prep before the event begins.
  • Set up buffets with food presentation standards and practices in mind, ensuring safe food handling performance.
  • Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages and other needs.
  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to patrons of bar.
  • Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and tea.
  • Clean up after event ends and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks.
  • Arranges for cleaning of rooms after use.
  • Communicates with Culinary and Sales/Catering/Convention Services on such items as serving arrangements, times, counts and additional employees and equipment needed for buffets or table service.
  • Ensures meeting space is clean, set-up and prepared for client arrival.
  • Requisitions china, glassware, silverware and any items used on a buffet and in service.
  • Oversees training of new employees.
  • Assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operations.
  • Supervises serving of meals and beverages to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Inspects food and beverage areas and equipment to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Assist in requisitioning liquor to maintain par levels and to maintain quality.
  • Responsible for maintaining cash bank.
  • Assist with Micors checks.
  • Ensures that Millennium service standards are adhered.
  • Meet and greet clients and verify details (counts, room set, AV, assistance etc.).
  • Responds quickly to requests from guests, supervisors or management in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.
What you need to perform this job successfully:
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective labor management to minimize overtime and ensure appropriate staff assignment to guest traffic flow.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform well in a high-pressured work environment.
  • Adequate mathematical skills.
  • Required to walk and stand throughout the majority of each shift.
  • Required to regularly lift 20-40 pounds.
